Huawei engineers will make the proprietary operating system HarmonyOS completely independent. This was reported by the publication Wccftech, Day.Az reports with reference to Lenta.ru.
According to sources, the future version of HarmonyOS NEXT will stop working with American and other foreign software. The article says that the company’s programmers “cleaned” the operating system, removing all fragments of source code related to Android, Linux and other systems.
The publication’s journalists noted that this way the OS will become more independent. Since HarmonyOS NEXT will not have any borrowed components, it will be impossible to prohibit their use. This will also give Huawei the opportunity to deploy its own product on devices outside of China.
The article also says that the new operating system will be adapted for Kirin processors, which are used in Huawei smartphones. Thus, HarmonyOS NEXT will use the RAM of devices three times more efficiently than other systems.
The new version of HarmonyOS is expected to be released in the third quarter of the year. The first generation of Huawei’s OS was introduced in 2020.
