Police opened an undercover investigation about two and a half months ago, receiving a number of complaints received from business owners and citizens with credit cards from across the country, regarding suspicion of committing fraud using stolen credit card details.

The investigation, conducted at the Crime Fighting Unit (ILP) in the Carmel area, shows that the suspects called restaurants all over the country, introduced themselves as security personnel of a credit company and informed the restaurant employees that there was a problem with the credit card of customers with whom they made the purchase. Following this, the suspects called the credit card holders, introduced themselves as employees at the same restaurant from which the customer had just ordered food and informed the card holder that due to a communication problem the credit card did not pass and asked for the credit card details once more. When they received the details of the customers’ credit cards, the suspects purchased various products through them, including tools, animal food products and various household products amounting to hundreds of thousands of shekels.

In order to obscure their tracks, the suspects sent a taxi to collect the equipment they purchased using the credit card details they obtained, when they asked the taxi custom to put the goods they bought at a certain point where they waited and when video no one was following, ordered another taxi until the goods arrived at different destinations.

As stated, at the end of an intensive investigation, which included various investigative actions along with the use of advanced technological means, about a month and a half ago, when the investigation moved to the open phase, detectives from the Carmel Crime Unit, arrested the two suspects, a Kiryat Ata resident and a Kiryat Motzkin resident. , (24,35) when they have stolen goods that they allegedly purchased using the same credit card information they obtained fraudulently, shortly before their arrest.

The suspects’ detention was extended from time to time and this morning, as stated, the Prosecution Division of the Israel Police filed a statement against them, when an indictment will be filed against them in the coming days and a request for their detention until the end of the proceedings.
