A more open and free alternative to this service has emerged as a result of the transformation of OpenAI in recent years as a result of the remarkable success of the chatbot based on its language model, ChatGPT. We previously discussed StableLM, the open language model of Stability.AI. Now it’s time to check out a new ChatGPT replacement created by the developers of the HuggingFace platform.
HuggingChat is an alternative chatbot to OpenAI, which according to its developers is a free, open source, inclusive and transparent service.
HuggingChat, however, it clearly has a lot of potential. The project is based on the technology made available by Open Assistant and the LLaMA model from Meta AI. There are some restrictions in the version that is currently available, but the developers are working quickly on security features and the user interface.
I believe we need open-source alternatives to ChatGPT for more transparency, inclusivity, accountability and distribution of power.

HuggingChat, as the first prototype, is expected to open the door for the introduction of new chat services based on extensive language models and favoring an open and honest method. Some even go so far as to compare the ideas of HuggingFace and OpenAI to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store in terms of app stores, and are certain that the door will eventually open for the development of apps based on the technology that powers HuggingChat. .
