Hulk Hogan Dies at 71 Following Health Struggles and Cardiac Arrest

The wrestling icon, Terry Gene Bollea, passed away Thursday morning after battling a series of health issues, culminating in a cardiac arrest at his Florida home.

Hulk Hogan, a name synonymous with professional wrestling’s golden age, has died at the age of 71. The wrestling legend reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida residence on Thursday morning, according to multiple reports. Emergency services responded to a 911 call at 10 a.m. and transported Hogan to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:17 a.m.

An insider alleged to the Daily Mail that Hogan had been experiencing a decline in health for some time, stating, “He was suffering from shortness of breath, got tired easily, had lost a lot of weight and was on oxygen as his life ebbed away at his mansion in Clearwater, Florida.” The source further indicated that Hogan had been grappling with a “weak heart” in the lead-up to his death.

Despite his declining health, the source also revealed that Hogan spent his final weeks attempting to reconcile with estranged loved ones, including his daughter Brooke. He reportedly hoped to mend their relationship, having last spoken with her two weeks before his wedding to Sky Daily in September 2023.

Authorities have confirmed that foul play is not suspected in connection with Hogan’s death. The Clearwater Police Department stated that he was experiencing a “serious medical related issue” prior to his passing.

Hogan’s career spanned four decades, during which he underwent an astonishing 25 surgeries. His physical toll was attributed to both the demanding nature of professional wrestling and the long-term effects of steroid use.

Recent months had seen conflicting reports regarding Hogan’s health. In May, he appeared on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends,” showcasing a new two-tone beard alongside his signature handlebar mustache. He was also photographed meeting with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis at Clearwater Beach. A photo of the pair holding cans of Hogan’s Real American Beer was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by DeSantis.

However, concerns resurfaced last month when Hogan’s former friend, Todd Clem, publicly discussed the wrestler’s condition on his radio program, “The Bubba the Love Sponge Show.” Clem claimed his information came from a “pretty damn reliable” source, suggesting Hogan’s health was rapidly deteriorating. These claims were swiftly denied by Hogan’s representatives, who stated he had only recently undergone neck surgery and was recovering well.

Just two days before his death, Hogan’s longtime manager, Jimmy Hart, offered a positive update on X, stating, “Hulk is doing great, doing phenomenal! Last night at karaoke with Nick was absolutely fantastic, baby!!!”

Speculation about Hogan’s health had even extended to unsubstantiated claims of paralysis and a coma, which insiders refuted. Despite the conflicting reports, Hogan’s passing marks the end of an era for professional wrestling and leaves behind a legacy of larger-than-life entertainment and enduring cultural impact.
