My Bangladesh Party (AB Party) Jatrabari Thana branch has made a human chain with the aim of establishing orderly Jatrabari after the mass uprising of the students.
This human chain took place at Jatrabari intersection at 11 am on Wednesday.
AB Party assistant member secretary and former student leader Shahadatullah Tutul spoke as the chief guest at the manbandhan organized by Jatrabari police station convener CMH Arif.
AB Party Dhaka Metropolitan South Joint Convener Anwar Farooq, Gazi Nasir, Joint Member Secretary Safiul Basar, Ahmed Barkaz Nasir and Organizing Secretary Abdul Halim Nannu spoke as special guests.
Dhaka Metropolitan Women’s Affairs Editor Amena Begum, Jatrabari Thana Member Secretary Nasimul Islam Antar and local leaders also spoke.
In the speech of the chief guest, Shahadatullah Tutul said that Jatrabari police station is the most important entrance of Dhaka city. It must be brought back to order. He called upon the government to implement the following 7-point demands of the AB party.
1. Stop all forms of extortion, control inter-district bus terminals, wholesale markets and sightseeing spots through leases fixed by the government.
2. Modern traffic system should be introduced by eliminating vehicle control and illegal parking.
3. Clean Jatrabari should be ensured by completing the waste disposal activities within the specified time every day.
4. Harassment of passengers should be stopped, clean people should be appointed at every bus counter for passenger service.
5. All kinds of terrorist activities should be stopped, special helpline numbers should be introduced in police stations.
6. Pavements should be freed from encroachments and pedestrians should be kept clean, hawkers should be rehabilitated.
7. Release the final list of all the martyrs killed in the Jatrabari area in the anti-dictatorship movement of 24. A martyr’s monument should be constructed immediately in memory of the martyrs at the gate of Jatrabari police station.
