by times news cr

A source confirmed to the “Eye of Libya” network that the Arab-European Center for Human Rights and International Law, which is based in Oslo, Norway and has obtained consultative status with the International Council for Human Rights at the United Nations, has received a distress call from the people of Benghazi demanding intervention to stop the forcible confiscation of citizens’ properties in Benghazi, and is demanding that the Attorney General’s Office intervene to stop the confiscation operations.

The people of Benghazi appealed to all international organizations and institutions and the United Nations to intervene to protect them from the encroachment of what they described as the Benghazi militias, who are expelling them from their homes, seizing them and forcing them to sign documents of surrender by force in favor of unknown persons.

The residents said in their appeal: “We are heading today to confront the brutality and criminality of these militias that have displaced our people and are now confiscating our freedoms, suppressing any opinion that contradicts their dictatorial orientations, arresting, torturing and killing without any regard for the law or any rights of citizens.”

The residents also appealed to the international community to protect Benghazi, its people and its historical buildings, which Haftar’s forces are demolishing as part of unknown plans.

The people of Benghazi added in their appeal: “Our situation today is much worse than on March 18, 2011, when the Security Council rushed to protect the city of Benghazi and its people. We repeat our appeal and we appeal to the conscience of the international community and the conscience of everyone who defends values and human rights to rush to our aid.

It is noteworthy that these evacuations come after signing an investment contract with an Emirati investment company in the past weeks.
