A NASA rover has spotted a piece of trash stuck between two rocks on Mars, while searching for signs of life on the Red Planet.
And NASA images recorded an unexpected waste on the Red Planet, which is a shiny object stuck between two pieces of rock, believed to be human garbage.
“The team found something unexpected,” NASA said in a tweet, explaining that it was a “thermal blanket” that was believed to have been part of the equipment debris that contributed to the safe landing of the spacecraft on Mars, last year.
The agency wondered why this piece had reached a place about two kilometers from where the landing gear broke, and it was likely that the reason for this was the wind.
In a series of Twitter posts, the research team shared that they had discovered what is believed to be a piece of thermal blanket that was used to protect the rover from extreme temperatures during its descent.
The rover has been on a mission since landing on Mars in February 2021, to explore Jezero crater on the planet for signs of life.
This is not the first time that human space junk has been spotted on Mars. In April, an Ingenuity helicopter captured an aerial view of the landing gear left behind when the probe landed, according to a Business Insider report.
The Mars rover has been in a state of intense work lately, bringing back images of interesting and unusual Martian terrain for scientists to research.
