Ugo Humbert should be the French No. 1 after the Bordeaux tournament.

Frenchman Ugo Humbert qualified for the final of the Bordeaux-Primrose 175 challenger tournament, on clay, after correcting his compatriot Richard Gasquet in two short sets 6-0, 6-2.

Humbert (50th in the world at ATP) confirms his current good form. Winner of the Cagliari Challenger in early May, the Lorrain had already impressed Thursday during his quarter-final against the Swiss Stan Wawrinka (7-5, 6-1).

Facing a tired Gasquet, Humbert relied on a good first serve (75%) and an excellent return with six converted breaks.

In the final on Saturday, Humbert will be opposed to the surprising Argentinean Tomas Martin Etcheverry (61st in the world) who took out the German Jan-Lennard Struff, finalist of the last Masters 1000 in Madrid and seeded No. 1 in two sets 6-4, 6-2.

At the end of the Girondin tournament, Humbert should recover the place of French number 1 eight days from Roland-Garros.
