BVB and draws level with FC Bayern
– 2024-04-07 12:27:38″>Mats Hummels‘ contract with BVB ends in the summer. The defender reacted surprisingly to a question from reporter Laura Wontorra.
Mats Hummels has not yet decided whether to continue his career. “It can go in all directions. You have to see what possibilities there are and what I want to do,” said Hummels after Borussia Dortmund‘s semi-final first leg in the Champions League against Paris St. Germain (1-0) on DAZN.
The 35-year-old’s contract expires after this season. According to Hummels, he has already “thought a few things about it,” but “nothing has been decided yet.” It is also still unclear whether BVB would like to extend the contract with the central defender.
DAZN presenter Laura Wontorra asked the BVB star after the game: “Mats, without wanting to insinuate that you’re getting a bit old, but you’re in the late autumn of your career. A trophy is missing, I think Me still, in the trophy collection Do you have anything planned for the first of June (the day of the Champions League final, editor’s note)?”
Hummels corrects the moderator in his answer: “There are still two missing: Champions League and European Championship.” That could probably be seen as a declaration of war against national coach Julian Nagelsmann, who had recently not nominated the defender. Hummels was voted player of the game after the game against PSG – actually the best application for a place at the European Championships.
Wontorra then: “Oh, yes. Both are still possible.” Hummels: “Just dropped it.” A funny throw-in from the 78-time national player.
