The transfer phase is underway and the first stars already have new clubs. You can find rumors and confirmed transfers from the world of football here.

A few days before the transfer window closes in the major international leagues, the transfer carousel is in full swing. The biggest transfer of the summer so far: Kylian Mbappé has left Paris Saint-Germain and will now play for Champions League winners Real Madrid. But it is not the only top transfer of the summer.

Important for all Bundesliga fans: German clubs can sign new players until August 30, 2024.

In recent days, there have been increasing signs that the former BVB professional will play for Real Sociedad San Sebastian in the future. Several media outlets reported that the club officials were confident that they would be able to sign the world champion. But that is unlikely to happen. The Spanish newspaper “Marca” is now reporting that Hummels has turned down the La Liga club – for personal reasons. Both sides had already agreed that Hummels could have signed a contract until 2026, it was said.

After FC Bologna, which had previously hoped to sign Hummels, San Sebastián is the second club that Hummels has turned down.

Now Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion with German coach Fabian Hürzeler is considered a possible new club for the defender.

Champions Bayer Leverkusen have loaned defender Nordi Mukiele from Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the current season. In return, central defender Odilon Kossounou will go to Italian first division club Atalanta Bergamo on loan for one year. After that, the Europa League winners have an option to buy.

“Nordi Mukiele is an athletic and fast defender. His profile fits perfectly into our team, he has extensive Champions League experience with 30 appearances and can play both as a right-back and as a central defender,” said Bayer’s sporting director Simon Rolfes about the previously one-off French international, who already played for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga from 2018 to 2022.

Kossounou came to Leverkusen from FC Bruges three years ago and played a total of 102 competitive matches for the Werkself. “Odilon’s move is a good solution for everyone involved,” said Rolfes.

Turkish international Salih Özcan is moving from Borussia Dortmund to Bundesliga rival VfL Wolfsburg. The 26-year-old, who is contractually bound to BVB until 2026, will be loaned out for one year without an option to buy, the Lower Saxony club announced. The defensive midfielder had previously said goodbye to his previous teammates during training on Wednesday.

“We are very happy that Salih Özcan is joining VfL Wolfsburg. With his mentality and his way of playing football, he is the perfect addition to our midfield,” said VfL coach Ralph Hasenhüttl.

BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl stated that Özcan no longer had the prospect of the desired playing time: “That is why we have agreed together to loan Salih to Wolfsburg for one season.”

Kingsley Coman’s departure from FC Bayern to Saudi Arabia is apparently getting closer and closer. The star striker has now agreed to a move to Al-Hilal, reports the French sports newspaper “L’Equipe”. According to the report, he has already informed the record champions’ officials of this decision.

As the TV channel Sky reports, the Munich team has already reached an agreement with Al-Hilal about a transfer of the winger. On Wednesday morning, however, the 28-year-old took part in the Munich team’s public training session.

Brazilian star striker Neymar, Malcom and Kalidou Koulibaly already play for Al-Hilal. Former Munich player João Cancelo also recently moved to the Saudi club.

Striker Fabian Reese will remain with second division club Hertha BSC for the time being. The 26-year-old, who is currently injured, put an end to all speculation about a transfer. On Instagram on Wednesday, Reese wrote that he was listening to his heart more than ever. The encouragement, love and emotions he had experienced had exceeded everything he expected. “I don’t want to leave here, because we’re not finished here yet. Today is a beautiful day,” explained the crowd favorite.
