Sebastian Kurz (ÖVP) is once again in the focus of the judiciary. The Austrian Chancellor is suspected of corruption. He does not want to give up his office, as he said on Wednesday. But that’s exactly what hundreds of Austrians are demanding.

Left parties and organizations therefore called for an approved demonstration in front of the ÖVP headquarters. The Socialist Youth (SJ), which was one of the organizers, speaks of 7,000 participants, the police from 1,000 to 1,200. They were on site with a large contingent, there were no “police-relevant incidents”, she tweeted.

The demonstrators chanted “down with the ÖVP” and had posters with them. The tenor was clear: Chancellor Kurz must resign. Many also demanded that he go to jail. “Every day that Kurz remains Federal Chancellor damages democracy further,” says the SJ.
