Hundreds of flights canceled in Japan as typhoon approaches / Day

Tropical storm Maria hit northern Japan a few days ago, bringing heavy rainfall and causing air traffic disruptions. Typhoon Ampil is now approaching Japan and is expected to hit the densely populated Tokyo region today.

In preparation for the hurricane, ANA has canceled 280 domestic flights, while Japan Airlines has canceled 191 domestic and 26 international flights. About 100,000 passengers have been affected by the cancellation of flights.

High-speed trains on several routes are also scheduled to be canceled on Friday, including the busy line between Tokyo and Nagoya.
