“We are not doing well in this sense, because Brussels is given over to the fever of war,” said Orbán, in a radio interview in which he criticized the shipment of weapons and called for work to achieve a ceasefire “as soon as possible”as a preliminary step to peace talks between Kiev y Moscow.

Russia declared NATO a “threat” and Europe is analyzing when Putin could invade a member country

Los 27 member countries of the political and economic association unanimously agreed this Thursday to send a aid of 50,000 million euros for Ukraine for the next four years. The consensus seemed complicated by the doubts previously expressed by Orbán, who questioned whether said aid could be included in the community and long-term budget.

However, Hungary will continue without sending weapons and explained that the approved aid only aims to prevent the economic collapse of Ukraine, according to statements released by its Government.

Likewise, they reiterated that these 50,000 million euros, which Budapest threatened to block and are part of the common budget, will not imply a potential “diversion” of European funds that correspond to Hungary and that remain blocked.

Zelensky thanked the agreement in Brussels

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyapplauded the agreement between the members of the association for the granting of aid of 50,000 million euros and considered it a “important decision” which, in his opinion, “demonstrates once again the strong unity of the EU.”

Zelensky showed himself on social networks “grateful” for this pact, since it considers that “continued” support will “strengthen long-term economic and financial stability in Ukraine.” “It is no less important than military assistance and sanctions pressure on Russia,” he added.

This comes weeks after the Ukrainian president warned European leaders that A Russian advance would be dangerous for everyone. “If anyone believes that this only has to do with Ukraine, they are grossly mistaken,” the president had warned in the Davos World Economic Forum. “The possible direction and even timeline of new Russian aggression beyond Ukraine are increasingly obvious,” she emphasized.

The prime minister of Hungary and his counterpart SwedenUlf Kristersson, agreed this Thursday at the extraordinary meeting of EU leaders held in Brussels. Kristersson had already announced his intention to take advantage of this forum to discuss this issue, although he did not rule out another bilateral meeting in Budapest.

The Swedish leader, however, warned that integration into NATO is a debate that is already closed, after Orbán invited him to “negotiate” on this issue. Hungary is currently the only country in the Alliance that has not completed the procedures, after Turkey gave its approval in January.
