Hunt for man in Germany after the attack on a fitness center

A police spokesman confirmed the operation was being carried out by police from the nearby town of Essen and advised citizens to avoid the area. “We are there with significant troops,” he added in a tweet.

Earlier, public broadcaster WDR reported that two intruders attacked several visitors to the fitness center. According to German media Bild, the perpetrator(s) fled the scene.

The police did not give further details on the number of perpetrators and injured. The motive for the attack is not yet known.
