Ismailov’s lawyer did not respond to a request for comment from the New York Post exposing the alleged killings or the Hunter Biden meeting, but said the allegations were false and “the result of political and economic persecution by the Russian Federation.” In February he was granted political asylum in Montenegro.
It is not clear what the nature of Hunter Biden’s ties with Ismailov were, but the trip was part of a two-day meeting between Hunter and wealthy oligarchs in the country – which at least in part focused on finding foreign investors for the investment firm founded by Hunter Biden, Devon Archer and Chris Heinz.
The plethora of meetings raises questions about the matters discussed and whether the oligarchs sought access not to Hunter Biden’s father. On February 22, 2012, just days after returning from Russia, Hunter Biden met with his father, then Vice President Biden at his home, according to his diary.
“The only reason anyone other than a drug dealer would want to meet Hunter Biden is to reach out to his father,” said Jim Hanson, president of the security research group. “They sold access, that was their business model. The Biden family was involved in exploiting Joe’s political career.”
Ironically, it was Joe Biden who slammed former President Trump over his ties with Russia. “All of Donald Trump’s presidency was a gift to Putin,” then-candidate Biden said in a June 2020 tweet. “Unlike Trump, I will defend our democratic values and stand up to autocrats like Putin,” he added in August of that year.
“When Republicans regain control of the Senate in the midterm elections in January, the Biden family’s dubious relationship with Russia and China should be investigated. Perhaps Hunter’s relations with foreign nationals explain why the Biden administration has a ‘last America’ foreign policy,” the Republican congresswoman said. Nicole Mlyotkis for the New York Post.
One of the people Hunter Biden met was Sergei Khamzov, a close friend of Russian President Vladimir Putin since the 1980s, when they were both young KGB agents working in East Germany. He was sanctioned by the United States in 2014 after Russia’s invasion of Crimea and again in 2022 because of the war in Ukraine, his super yacht was captured by Spain in March.
