Hunting with hounds is now prohibited near the hamlet of Ortille

by time news

Incidents that occurred last Saturday in the forest of Compiègne (Oise) led the municipality to ban hunting with hounds near the hamlet of Ortille. A decree to this effect was signed on Tuesday by the mayor Philippe Marini, reports Oise Weekly.

The previous weekend, an anti-hunting collective had reported that the hunt for a deer had taken place in the direct vicinity of dwellings. Its members then reproached the hunters for not having respected a previous decree of February 2021. For their part, the latter claimed to be in good standing.

An expired order

Faced with the disagreement, the gendarmes carried out checks and found that the decree invoked by the collective had in fact expired. This is what gave rise to this new measure, less restrictive than the old one since it prohibits hunting with hounds within 150 meters of the hamlet, against 300 meters for the previous one.

The new decree entered into force on the day of its signature and will allow hunters who do not respect the rule to be fined.
