New York ∙ Hurricane Ian hit the southwest coast of the US state of Florida causing massive damage. From Englewood to Bonita Beach, more than 2.5 million people were affected.
Electricity and phone connections were completely broken due to rain and wind. Many houses were flooded with waves that were about 10 feet high. Most of the roads were under water. Sanibel Island’s only bridge collapsed. Flight services were also suspended. States of emergency have also been declared in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Virginia due to warnings that the hurricane may intensify again.
