I felt a bit sad because up until now I usually played gentle roles that were loved by the audience, but this time I was criticized for having a dull face and sour voice. However, with characters like this, I can’t play a gentle face. My voice had to raise a tone to make me sound like a strict, formidable mother.
When I read the script, I also determined the direction of the character I was playing. It wasn’t until I watched the movie that I felt frustrated, but when I acted and read Thuan’s lines, I also saw that this character was difficult, never happy or comfortable with anyone.”
The actress said that this was her first time taking on such a formidable role, so she always felt tired when acting because her face was always frowning and uncomfortable, not to mention the headaches she had from arguing. Huyen Sam said that the audience would continue to hate Thuan in the next episodes, but the film also revealed part of the reason why she was so strict and had such high expectations of her son.
