The opening ceremony on this day was hosted by the Jeonnam Bio Promotion Agency Biomedical Research Center. The opening ceremony was attended by approximately 200 people including Hwasun County Governor Koo Bok-gyu, Jeollanam-do Strategic Industry Bureau Director So Young-ho, Jeonnam Bio Promotion Agency President Yoon Ho-yeol, Hwasun County Council Chairman Oh Hyeong-yeol, and bio entrepreneurs. Hwasun County Governor Koo Bok-gyu said in his speech, “It is very encouraging that Hwasun has been confirmed as a national advanced strategic industry bio-specialized complex and that the immune cell therapy industrialization technology platform has opened. Through this, I am confident that Hwasun will be able to help more bio companies as a cutting-edge vaccine and immunotherapy specialized complex and serve as a bridgehead for the expansion of the cluster.”

In addition, Director So Young-ho of the Strategic Industry Bureau, who attended on behalf of Jeollanam-do Governor Kim Young-rok, said in his opening remarks, “The A-TOP platform’s one-stop support for immunotherapy technology, clinical trials, and product commercialization will play a significant role in helping Hwasun leap forward as Korea’s bio hub.”

In his welcoming speech, Yoon Ho-yeol, the president of the Jeonnam Bio Promotion Agency, said, “The advanced immunotherapy open industrialization platform will be an important base for innovation and development of bio in Korea and Jeonnam. We are delighted to be working with Parksel Bio, the first company to move in.”

The A-TOP construction project was carried out by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, South Jeolla Province, and Hwasun County with a total project cost of KRW 20 billion over five years from 2019 to 2023, and was constructed on a site area of 5,860㎡, a total floor area of 4,343㎡, and two floors above ground.

The A-TOP platform was established to foster the immunotherapy technology industry of bio companies. Its main role is to resolve difficulties in the development process of advanced biopharmaceuticals that companies face due to excessive initial business costs and lack of facility expertise, even though they have the technology.

The platform is equipped with GMP facilities and testing labs that companies can utilize independently, enabling one-stop support for the technology development and production process of immune cell therapy products.
