Hwasun County has started to provide information on various support projects for national veterans. Hwasun County (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 21st that it is working to spread a culture of veterans’ support that does not forget the devotion of national benefactors and their bereaved families through various support projects for national veterans.

As for the support project for national veterans in Hwasun-gun, △150,000 won per month (50,000 won for the province, 100,000 won for the military) for veterans with merit △50,000 won per month for the surviving family members (spouses) of veterans with merit △200,000 won (one time) for the first-priority surviving family members in the event of the death of a veteran with merit.

In addition, △military veterans’ allowance of 70,000 won per month will be provided to △patriotic martyrs, military and police officers who died in battle, were injured in battle, died on duty, or were injured in action, recipients of military and patriotic medals, those who served in special missions, and 5.18 Democratic Meritorious Personnel and their bereaved families; △provincial veterans’ honorary allowance of 30,000 won per month will be provided to the bereaved families of military and police officers who died in battle or were injured in action; and △provincial democratic honorary allowance of 30,000 won per month will be provided to the bereaved families of patriotic martyrs and patriots.

In addition, for independence activists and their bereaved families, △Province Independence Activist Merit Honor Allowance of 30,000 won per month △Independence Activist Merit Survivors Medical and Pharmaceutical Expenses are also supported up to 500,000 won per person.

We are making great efforts to improve the treatment and welfare of national veterans in the province by providing KRW 60,000 per month in May 18th Democratic Honor Allowance to May 18th Democratic Meritorious Persons or their bereaved families, KRW 70,000 per month in May 18th Democratic Meritorious Persons Living Support Fund (reflecting income) and KRW 1 million in funeral expenses.

Applicants can apply at any time and must bring their ID card, national merit certificate, bankbook copy, etc. to the customized welfare team at the administrative welfare center in their town or district of residence.
