Hybrid, electric and gas vehicles account for 44% of 2022 sales

Total registrations during the first six months of the year in the counties of Girona fell by 2.16% according to data the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), dealers (Faconauto) and sellers (Ganvam). In 2021, 5,085 vehicles were sold between January and June, while this year it has been a slightly lower figure, 4,975. Thus, passenger and all-terrain vehicle registrations fell by 2.16% year-on-year, but sales of electric, hybrid and gas vehicles rose considerably throughout the province.

In the first half of 2022, the registration of hybrid cars in Girona increased by 20.28%. From 1,366 hybrids sold between January and June 2021, it has grown to 1,641 in the same period this year. This is also reflected in the registration of hybrids last June, which were 281, 9.77% more than in June 2021. However, the rise is even greater in electric cars. In the first six months of 2022, 40.84% ​​more were sold than in the same months last year. This year, 538 transactions have been made. In June, 101 were sold, an increase of 16.09% over the same month in 2021. Sales of gas vehicles also rose by 30.77% year-on-year.

All this increase in the registration of alternative vehicles has made them represent 44.44% of the total number of passenger and all-terrain vehicle transactions in the Girona region. Thus, during the first six months of the year a total of 2,211 green vehicles were sold, which far exceeds, and by far, the number of diesel vehicle transactions, which was 484 (9.84%). These numbers also mean being very close to the registrations of gasoline vehicles, which was 2,280 (45.83%).

However, this percentage is lower than the Catalan average, which is 46.31%. In this average, only the province of Barcelona surpasses it (+ 47.17%), while Lleida also surpasses Girona in percentage (45.27%). The only Catalan province that does not do so is Tarragona (+ 42.68%).

In general terms, during the first half of 2022 in Spain a total of 407,757 cars were sold according to data from the three vehicle associations. Of these, 161,127 have been alternatives, representing 39.5% of the total. For his part, Pedro Sánchez stated last month that the Government will install in less than a year 27,000 recharging points for hybrid and electric cars across the state thanks to the Plan Move 3, which is endowed with 2,000 million euros. This plan seeks to finance the purchase of non-plug-in electric and hybrid cars.
