Hydrocarbons: ONHYM and ESSO sign 2 reconnaissance contracts
Rabat – The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) and the company ESSO Exploration International Limited (ESSO) proceeded, Tuesday in Rabat, to the signing of two reconnaissance contracts, within the framework of the strategy of promoting the hydrocarbon potential of the national subsoil developed by ONHYM.
These contracts, initialed by Amina Benkhadra, Director General of ONHYM, and Charles David Tautfest, President of ESSO, concern the Safi-Essaouira Offshore and Agadir-Ifni Offshore zones, located off the coast of Safi, Essaouira, Agadir and Sidi Ifni, ONHYM said in a press release.
This signing marks the return to Morocco of ExxonMobil Corporation, parent company of ESSO and one of the largest publicly traded energy and petrochemical companies in the world, since the merger of Exxon and Mobil in 1999.
Furthermore, ONHYM recalls its ongoing collaboration with 14 companies within the framework of 19 oil agreements and a reconnaissance contract.
It is worth noting that ExxonMobil Corporation has interests in hydrocarbon exploration and production projects in 20 countries, in addition to its petrochemical, refining and petroleum product distribution activities throughout the world.
