BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that hyenas are still hiding all over the country and will attack at any time. We have to resist the attack of hyenas.

He said this at the commemoration of the martyrs of the student-public movement at the Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday (September 14). The commemoration was organized by BNP.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the people of the country have always sacrificed and given their lives for democracy. When I became independent in 1971, I thought we would have a real democratic country. But unfortunately for us, democracy was destroyed by the hands of those who were the first to demand freedom and liberation war, i.e. Awami League. In 75 they established a group of Bakshal.

He said, this party again came to power after the election in 2008 and destroyed all the state institutions in a very well-planned manner. Torture, disappearances and murders have repeatedly been used to suppress the student movement. As a result, in July-August and 17 years, the democratic people of this country gave their lives.

Saluting those who were martyred and injured in the movement, BNP Secretary General said, Salute to Begum Khaleda Zia, she never compromised on the question of democracy. He was in prison for six years. He was freed through the students’ movement.

Mirza Fakhrul said, today we have become independent but the poisonous breath of Nagini is all around. They continue to plot. They are trying to create differences between us in various ways.

He urged the activists not to step into the plot of the conspirators in any way. He said, we got an interim government through mass uprising and self-sacrifice. The hopes and aspirations of the people of the country are sky high with this government. People hope that they can establish a truly democratic state and society through elections with a level playing field.

BJP chairman Andalib Rahman Partha said in the memorial meeting, Awami League did not get a chicken coop to stand. Even in the next 100 years, they will not get the confidence of the students. Awami League will turn into ‘Kabar League’ if the last 15 years of disappearances, murders and tortures including killing of students are tried.

Partha urged to be careful so that no one should be dishonest with the blood of the martyrs in the movement of students.

BNP international committee member Tabith Awal, Ishraq Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Saiful Alam Nirab, member secretary Aminul Haque, South convener Rafiqul Alam Majnu, member secretary Tanveer Ahmed Robin and others were present in the rally.

At the beginning of the commemoration, Mohammad Mohiuddin, the father of Shaheed Yamin in the July revolution, said in a tearful voice, “The body of a child on the shoulders of the father, there is no heavier burden than this.” No other parent or sibling should have to be a victim of this cruel situation. I don’t want my son to be dragged out of an armored police vehicle. No Yamin should be hated by the police. I want justice for my son’s murder.
