Football from another planet. There is no other way to describe what Liverpool are showing us this season. Tonight (Saturday) Jürgen Klopp’s oiled machine once again showed why it is considered by many to be the best team in the world today, when it mercilessly crushed Southampton 0: 4, with a mesmerizing and near-perfect football display, all in the 13th round of the Premier League.
Since suffering its only 3-2 loss this season to West Ham, Liverpool have looked unstoppable. Jürgen Klopp’s side recorded a second consecutive quartet at zero, having already risen to 39 Premier League goalscoring goals this season and averaging exactly three goals per game. That win put her at least temporarily back in second place in the table, as she is a point below leading Chelsea.
It took two minutes for Liverpool to signal the coming. The host hovered on the lawn from the first moment and at the end of a perfect football move, Diego Jote scored the first. Next, the host took her foot off the gas a bit, was exposed on defense and took advantage of an equalizer thanks to a good Allison ability, but then struck again, this time from the right. Muhammad Salah again abused the defense and set up Juta for his second, with five minutes later Thiago Alcantara continuing his fantastic form after the great goal against Porto in the Champions League in the middle of the week and adding another, setting up a 0-3 draw at half-time.
Liverpool continued to attack furiously in the second half as well, but settled for one goal, and a special one. Virgil Van Dyke scored for the first time in the league since returning from a serious injury from which he suffered and set the result of the game, which even does a lot of favors with Southampton, who are in 14th place and could get tangled up at the bottom of the table. Liverpool, on the other hand, only get better from week to week.
