Hyundai Motor Malaysia officially launched the Stargazer in Malaysia, offering three variants priced from RM99,800 to RM121,800. The Indonesian-imported MPV features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine, a resale value guarantee up to 70 percent, and seating options for six or seven passengers.
Pricing and Variant Lineup for the Malaysian Market
The Hyundai Stargazer enters the crowded Malaysian budget multi-purpose vehicle segment with three distinct tiers, matching the estimated price tags announced by Hyundai Motor Malaysia when order books opened earlier in the year at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show. Completely imported as a completely built-up unit from Indonesia, the vehicle lands locally in its latest facelifted design iteration.
The entry-level Hyundai Stargazer Style starts at RM99,800, while the mid-range Prime variant asks for RM109,800. At the top of the hierarchy sits the six-seater X variant, priced at RM121,800. All stated prices are on-the-road figures excluding insurance. Preparation for the nationwide rollout was already underway when the first shipment of 300 units arrived in the country ahead of the commercial release.
HMY says that the first 800 customers will receive a RM4,600 ‘value package’ that includes an eight-year/160,000 km warranty, four years of free service and a booking fee of only RM88. However, the headline figure includes a RM1,000 ‘all-star reward’ for existing Hyundai customers, and the warranty is standard whether one is early or not. The model will have its work cut out for it here, as it throws its hat into a segment including the likes of the Mitsubishi Xpander, Toyota Veloz, and Perodua Alza.
Engine Performance and Intelligent Variable Transmission
The Stargazer is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine producing 115 hp and 143 Nm of torque. The Smartstream Gamma II four-cylinder MPI unit is mated to a chain-driven CVT with eight virtual speeds that Hyundai calls Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), with drive sent to the front wheels. 1.5L NA CVT is the B-segment class norm, for both MPVs and sedans.
Cabin Layouts, Dimensions, and Exterior Design
Size wise, the Stargazer is 4,575 mm long (4,610 for the X due to larger bumpers) and 1,780 mm wide (1,820 for the X), with a 2,780 mm wheelbase. That’s 20 mm shorter than the Xpander but a full 100 mm longer than the Veloz. With a steeply raked windscreen for an almost one-box shape, the Hyundai is closer in form to the Xpander than the distinctly two-box Veloz/Alza with a prominent bonnet.
The STARGAZER Style starts the range at RM99,800 with a seven-seat 2+3+2 layout, LED headlamps with H-signature daytime running lights, an 8-inch multimedia player, a 4.2-inch colour instrument cluster and 16-inch alloy wheels. The STARGAZER Prime, at RM109,800, adds dual 10.25-inch displays, six airbags and Hyundai SmartSense ADAS 2.0. The STARGAZER X tops the range at RM121,800 and swaps the seven-seat layout for a 2+2+2 captain-chair configuration for six. It brings SUV-inspired styling with sportier bumpers and a rear spoiler, black Hyundai emblems, black gloss alloy wheels, full leatherette seats, a floating centre console with a detachable tray and Shift-By-Wire transmission control.
Advanced Safety and Trim-Specific Equipment
Across the range, Hyundai has leaned on practical touches rather than raw space: a cargo floor box with a lid, a seat-back table, multiple USB ports, roof-mounted rear air-conditioning vents, and, on selected variants, wireless charging and an Electronic Parking Brake with Auto Hold.
