The actress responded to the criticism on social media, writing that as a liberal girl raised in Canada, she had always worn bold clothing, regardless of her marital status. Now, married to a white man from a liberal family, her husband doesn’t care what she wears. However, when Pakistani society sees her in bold attire, their minds seem to become overwhelmed.
Ushna Shah further elaborated in her post, expressing her regret over apologizing for wearing a red bra and dancing at her wedding, calling it her biggest mistake. She argued that those who criticize her are often the same people who happily enjoy songs by controversial figures like Nargis Fakhri. She suggested that the criticism she faces stems from the fact that she was not raised in the same environment as her critics.
