The President of the Government, Marga Prohens, has thanked King Felipe VI for choosing Majorca for his holidays and has expressed how proud the Government of the archipelago would be to have his presence on more occasions and “not only in summer”.

This was expressed by the regional president in statements to the media after meeting Felipe VI at the Almudaina Palace, where she thanked the head of state for choosing Mallorca “to spend a few days off”.

During his meeting with Felipe VI, Prohens has conveyed to him the “pride” that it would be for his Executive “to be able to count on his presence on more occasions and not only in summer”, so that he could learn “first-hand” about some of the cultural projects or business that will be developed in the Islands “in the next four years”.

This has been the first meeting that the Balearic president has had with the monarch since the new president of the Balearic Government was sworn in. A meeting in which she, she has pointed out, have “debated and discussed the objectives of the new Government, the challenges and projects for the next four years, as well as the first measures that have been carried out”.

In addition, Prohens has indicated that the King is “a great connoisseur of the reality of the Balearic Islands”, as well as “a great lover of the Islands”. Thus, during the meeting “very diverse” issues were discussed such as housing, the tourism model, sustainability, transportation, the university, the lack of professionals, innovation, among others.

Similarly, the president has shown her “thank you on behalf of the Government and all the citizens of the Balearic Islands for having the presence of the King and the Royal Family.”

In this sense, he also thanked the traditional reception for civil society that the King and Queen will hold next Thursday at the Marivent Palace, as well as the participation of Queen Letizia in the closing of the 13th edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest this Sunday, and the presence of King Felipe VI at the Copa del Rey awards ceremony next week.

Asked if the 23J election results have been addressed, Prohens replied no, that he has given her a document with the ten main axes of the new Government and that “the conversation has revolved around this”.
