The war between Hamas and IsraeldossierThe Israeli author published in the newspaper “Yedioth Aharonot” this poem translated from Hebrew for “Liberation” by Michel Eckhard Elial.

My hair is blonder than sand

on which they ride.

My lips full of words

as sharp as a knife

who cut my throat.

If my eyes hypnotize you, put a token

in the wheel of fortune

which turns under the eyebrows.

Don’t ask my name, imagine my hands

attached to a body that was so beautiful

under my neck.

Cast now on the shame of the earth

like a simple banana peel.

The sun was shining, written

the poet,

All I am is a model of darkness.

No more.

Ronny Someck was born in Baghdad in 1951. Translated in many countries, seven of his books appeared in France and earned him the cross of the Order of Knights of Arts and Letters.
