The head coach of the women’s national team, Lorenzo Miceli, returned to Bulgaria. The Italian specialist helps in the preparation of our under-20 team, which is preparing for the European Championship in Plovdiv. From July 20 to 24, the contestants led by Borislav Krachanov will participate in the Balkaniad in Albania.
“I am very happy with the European title of our under-18 team – said Micelli. – Girls have huge potential. Now it is very important to preserve and develop them. They need to take a huge step in their lives, build themselves up as top level athletes. Antonina Zetova did a great job with them. Their development should continue in the club teams. I also see great potential in the under-20 team. I’m sure we have a chance for medals there too.”
Micheli will not travel to Albania for the Balkaniad. The coach will return for the European. Krachanov is Micheli’s assistant in the women’s national team of Bulgaria. The goal for the Italian specialist is to help in the development of all age groups.
In 2024, the commitments of the women’s national team ended with the League of Nations. The reason was the magnificent performance last year when we reached the quarter-finals of the European and won direct qualification for the next championship on the Old Continent.
