However, big actors of that industry, such as Mammootty, Mohanlal, Fahadh Faasil are silent on these issues. But now actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nani have reacted on this matter and criticized AMMA. They have condemned it in strong words. ‘Salaar’ actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has given his reaction on the report of Justice Hema Committee. He has told that he was the first person to give a statement before the Justice Hema Committee. He also said that he hopes that action will be taken against those who are proven guilty. Prithviraj criticized the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for not handling the complaints of the victims properly. He also mentioned that the organization did not take any action on Sridevika’s complaint against director Tulsidas. He said, ‘AMMA needs to intervene and take action strictly in this.’
Prithviraj Sukumaran on Hema Committee report
When asked about the impact on the film industry, Prithviraj said there should be a strong response to this. He said, ‘Just because I have not faced such a problem, it does not mean that it does not exist in the industry. I have not experienced it, but if anyone in Malayalam cinema has been affected by such a group, then their complaints should be heard. If such a body exists, it should be abolished.’
Nani reacted on Hema Committee report
At the same time, Telugu actor Nani has also given a shocking reaction to the Hema Committee report. In an interview, he has expressed concern over the mistreatment of women in the Malayalam film industry and called it ‘scary’. He said that the situation in the world of showbiz was much better earlier but ‘we are in the worst situation now.’
Nani mentioned the Nirbhaya case
Talking to NDTV, actor Nani said, ‘It has been bothering me since the Nirbhaya case. It never ends and it keeps bothering me constantly. In fact, I am very scared of scrolling my phone. We are in the midst of a social media boom, everyone is on social media and a lot of things are happening on it. I believe that whatever reaches its peak, it starts to come to an end.’

Nani further said, ‘Whenever I hear about all these news, especially about how women are treated or anyone can say or do anything and think they can get away with it, I think 20 years ago the situation was much better. And the situation was better than 20 years before that. I think we are in the worst situation now.’
What is the report of Justice Hema Committee?
The revelations of the Justice Hema Committee report have shocked the whole country. In 2017, a Malayalam actress was sexually harassed, after which the government constituted a three-member commission. This commission was headed by Justice K Hema (retired), while former officer KB Valsalakumari and actress Sharada were also included in the team. The report submitted to the government in 2019 was made available in the public domain yesterday. In which many aspects of the Malayalam film industry have been investigated.
