Fernando Jara, father of little Dante, arrived at the National Congress after A 99-day journey on foot from his native Arica to try to raise $3.5 billion for the treatment of his son, who suffers from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Upon his arrival in Valparaíso, Jara explained that “if I do nothing, Dante will have health complications, whether cardiac, respiratory or he will be in a wheelchair.”
Fernando recalled that “today marks 99 days that I have been walking from Arica to raise awareness of the disease and receive help from an entire country. I had to completely give up my life.”
Dante’s father explained that the walk to fight Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy includes “all the fathers and mothers so that they don’t have to live through this. I ask for the support of the people, because I don’t want Dante to die or see him get worse.”
