jpnn.comJAKARTA – Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah emphasized the importance of the role of the National Wage Council (Depenas) in building a fair, competitive and sustainable employment ecosystem.
This was conveyed by Minister of Manpower Ida at the 4th Plenary Session with the Depenas for the 2023-2026 Term in Surabaya, Saturday (14/9).
He said that the implementation of Government Regulation (PP) No. 51 of 2023 which regulates the new formula for calculating minimum wages requires the support and active participation of Depenas.
This formula is important in maintaining a balance between worker welfare and business continuity.
According to him, PP No. 51 of 2023 is the result of in-depth studies and dialogue with various stakeholders, including Depenas.
“Although not all parties are completely satisfied with this formula, we hope that its implementation can take place effectively in the next few years to see a positive impact on the national economy,” he said.
He stressed that Depenas needs to monitor economic and employment indicators on an ongoing basis.
With proper monitoring, minimum wage policies can continue to be adjusted to evolving economic conditions for the welfare of workers without sacrificing business growth.
