I. Brazdeikis shared his thoughts with “Žalgiris TV” about his impressions after returning to a very familiar environment.
“I feel truly blessed and grateful for the opportunity to come back here. I loved being here the first season. I had many good memories with my teammates, coaches, fans. I can’t wait for this season to start, I’m ready to fight. I think my teammates feel the same way. We are all looking forward to the start of the season,” said the basketball player.
On the eve of the last season, I. Brazdeikis, who was still in the “Žalgiris” team, signed a contract with the “Olympiakos” club of Piraeus. During the season, the Lithuanian maintained contact with familiar faces from “Žalgiris” and the club’s management. When the situation turned towards the return of I. Brazdeikis to Kaunas, both sides quickly found a common language.
“I always thought about such a possibility in my head, even when I left Kaunas. As the season with Olympiakos progressed, we saw the trajectory he was on. The thought of coming back started to become more real. I’m glad the call was made. There was interest from both sides and everything was implemented”, explained the native of Zalgiris.
Last season in the EuroLeague, I.Brazdeikis played an average of 11 minutes and scored 3.6 points, 1.7 rebounds and collected 2.4 utility points for Olympiakos. The basketball player testified that he felt he could contribute more to the team’s game, so he spent the entire summer preparing for his return to the court.
“Without a doubt, I felt that I was able to determine the course of the match, to contribute to the victories. That’s what I thought when I was there too, but unfortunately it didn’t happen in my case. I’m really hungry for basketball. I’ve been working all this offseason. I analyzed many things. I had the first such summer when I could work, after a few seasons off playing for the national team. I was able to analyze my game this summer and grow as a player”, asserted I. Brazdeikis. – I feel great. I feel that I have already learned the importance of taking care of my body during my years as a professional. This summer I took it extremely seriously. I am well prepared physically and psychologically. I’m really happy about that.”
After returning to “Žalgiris”, I. Brazdeikis discovered many new faces in the ranks of the team. The basketball player assures that the deep composition of the Kaunas team is more positive than ever before the start of the season.
“We have a lot of talent in this team. Multiple players can collect points. I think we are a physical team. You never know how things are going to play out until the season starts. But it’s a lot of fun for this team. I think we will be very competitive. We will be able to win games. We just need to put things together and discover the connection between them. Everything else will be great”, explained I. Brazdeikis.
