Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav posted a post on microblogging site X (Tweet). In it he writes, ‘Mithunda’s extraordinary cinematic journey inspires generations. The Dadasaheb Phalke Jury has decided to award legendary actor Mithun Chakraborty for his iconic contribution to Indian cinema. I am honored to make this announcement.’

Mithun Chakraborty told Indian news agency ANI, ‘I don’t know any language to express this feeling. I can neither laugh nor cry in this joy.’

Reminiscing about the struggle of life, Mithun Chakraborty said, ‘I came from the streets of Kolkata, I came up from the footpath. A boy who comes from such a place gets this honor. I never imagined it. Really, I am very happy. Dedicating this honor to my family and fans spread across the world.’

India Today reported that the National Film Awards of India will be presented on October 8. On this day, Mithun Chakraborty will present the award to Dadasaheb Phal.

Mithun Chakraborty made his film debut in 1976 with the movie ‘Mrigaya’. This movie made him an overnight star. He won the National Film Award of India as the best actor for acting in this movie. Hindi film industry continues to give hit movies. Mithun was known as ‘Mahaguru’ by the devotees.
