Sadie Zeev, a singer, songwriter and creator from Almansa based in Barcelona, will release her first album, Citylights, on September 30. Four original songs, two in English and two in Spanish, whose first single of the same name as the album was published in 2019, and all of them inspired by the development of life in a big city. This? available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon and YouTube.
What has your career been like?
In 2019, having finished my translation studies and doing some marketing studies, wanting to position myself again, I launched my new project as Sadie Zeev, I relaunched the entire design of the YouTube channel, the website and everything, and I released my first single, which is Citylights. I made a video explaining where the name and the first single come from.
Did the pandemic mean a break in your career?
Completely. These years have been very difficult. I released the first single which was Citylights and my idea was to continue making music, the pandemic came, I had the recording of a video clip and a new single to release ready and everything stopped. During these years that I have been unemployed, I have released an EP in collaboration with a friend of mine, but my project was stopped.
In 2022 what has he done?
I have dedicated myself to writing, putting my ideas in order, and in 2023 I have already started recording and producing this new EP that contains the song Single by Citylights and three more new songs.
Do you want to dedicate yourself to music professionally or are you already doing it?
I am an expert in double life. I have always had my job in the world of translation, which was what I dedicated myself to as a normal mortal human being, but I have combined all of this with professional or semi-professional artistic jobs because I have always dedicated myself to doing professional work. I have always dedicated myself to this double life. I charge for everything, I don’t leave my house without doing it.
Your favorite groups from Spain and abroad?
From here in Spain, my greatest reference and the person I most admire is Ruth Lorenzo, she seems to me to be one of the diamonds and treasures we have in this country. She is wonderful and at an international level my references are Loreen and I love Rosalía, it’s not that I copy her, but I really like her because of the way she works and does interviews, although my music has nothing to do with hers. I like rock from the 70s, 80s and 90s, in fact the album has many influences from grunge like Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, mixed with Hanson, Metallica because I’m eclectic.
What is music in your life?
I can’t conceive my life without music. Carrying out your own musical project is difficult and that is what is difficult, because in one way or another music has always been with me or will continue to be with me. I’ll figure out how to combine everything.
