Kannur: Journalist Sivadasan Karippal says that he is living in Kannur in fear as he is facing death threats from the son of the Chief Minister’s brother. Sathyan, a relative of the Chief Minister, sent a message on WhatsApp threatening not to breathe after the Youth Congress reported the protest against the Chief Minister. Sathyan told Asianet News that he was responding to the work done by the journalist and was adamant in what he said.
The Congress is staging a state-wide protest following the revelation of the dream against the Chief Minister in connection with the gold smuggling. Within hours of reporting the protest in Kannur, Kannur media online channel journalist Sivadasan Karippal received a threatening message on WhatsApp. Advocate C Sathyan, the son of the Chief Minister’s elder brother, sent the death threat saying he could report if he had no life left.
Sivadasan handed over the audio to Asianet News and said that Karippal was living in fear in Kannur.
C Sathyan’s reply was that WhatsApp Audio was his own and that he was responding to the work he had done.
Hours after the death threat audio came out, there was no police intervention in the incident.
Meanwhile, Kannur district secretary MV Jayarajan demanded that those who love the chief minister should not behave emotionally. Even if there is an exception campaign against the Chief Minister, it should be dealt with politically. Strong protests against the false propaganda against the Chief Minister are natural. The party has not threatened anyone. The CPM can deal with this politically, not through threats. MV Jayarajan said, “We will go to the houses against the exception campaigns and meet the people and explain.”
