Relations were not in good shape, they will deteriorate further. Monday afternoon, the Altice group, owner in particular of BFMTV and RMC, published a press release against its former employee Jean-Jacques Bourdin, in which it announced that it was taking legal action against him. The journalist, who now works for Sud Radio, has increased attacks against his former employer in recent weeks.

In June 2022, the Altice group separated from Jean-Jacques Bourdin after an internal investigation carried out within the editorial staff of BFMTV and RMC. This was triggered following a complaint filed six months earlier by one of her former colleagues for attempted sexual assault. The complaint was dismissed, but elements of the internal investigation highlighted inappropriate behavior and thoughts, which made his return to the air impossible.

“I could no longer work with Marc-Olivier Fogiel”

A departure that the journalist has obviously still not digested. “I was deeply hurt by the way my departure from BFMTV took place,” he first declared last August to our colleagues from Figaro. He then assured that he had “turned the page” and did not want to “settle scores”. But on the set of C Médiatique on Sunday, Jean-Jacques Bourdin shed light on this separation, and more particularly targeted Marc-Olivier Fogiel, general director of BFMTV.

“I could no longer work with Marc-Olivier Fogiel,” he said. “I have always been very independent (…) no one ever came to insert themselves into my work (…) and Marc-Olivier Fogiel constantly called me saying I have to call so-and-so… If Marc-Olivier Fogiel s “Go away, I’ll go to BFM,” says Jean-Jacques Bourdin.

Altice’s reaction was therefore not long in coming. “While Mr. Jean-Jacques Bourdin multiplies public and unfounded attacks against his former employer and his former colleagues, Altice Media recalls having decided to cease all collaboration in 2022 with him following an in-depth and unequivocal internal investigation including in particular the hearing of more than 35 people,” recalls the group in its press release.

“The successive denigrations of Mr. Jean-Jacques Bourdin towards Altice Media, BFM, RMC, its employees and managers, will be the subject of appropriate legal proceedings,” he then asserts. The cloth continues to burn.
