I didn’t like what I did

But ahead of the final, Messi’s conduct after the quarter-final against the Netherlands came under fire. Messi has now admitted he didn’t like what he did back then, after falling out with Netherlands manager Louis van Gaal and striker Wood Wekhorst.

Speaking about the incident involving Wekhorst in an interview with radio show Perros de la Calle, Messi said: “I didn’t think about it, it happened at the time.”

Messi said his teammates told him what Netherlands manager Van Gaal had said about him. Amidst all the tension of the game, Messi lost his temper, but he didn’t think to do such things.

“He said before the game, I know everything he (Van Gaal) said. Even some of my team-mates deliberately said to me ‘Did you see what he said?’

“That’s right, when it’s all over, I don’t like what I did, let’s move on, I don’t like it all..,” Messi said.
