A difficult test awaits the German record champions in London in the quarter-final first leg of the Champions League. The Bayern coach gives open answers beforehand – and Leroy Sané has to laugh when asked a question.
At the press conference on Monday evening in London, Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and attacker Leroy Sané answered questions. And Tuchel warned against Arsenal – but also highlighted Bayern’s chances: Although the club dominates “the strongest league in the world. But we know that the Champions League is still a competition in which we have more experience. It’s different football in Europe than in the Premier League and we want to use that to our advantage.”
The 2:3 in Heidenheim on Saturday has been dealt with “factually and emotionally”, but Tuchel wants to look forward: “Then it will be good at some point.” The 50-year-old emphasized: “Of course there are better starting situations. But that shouldn’t stop us from giving our best performance tomorrow. If we do what we have done so far in the Champions League, then we are competitive, then we need each other not hide.” He has no regrets about staying with Bayern until the end of the season. “It wasn’t an option to quit.” And further: “We’ll see this through to the end. That’s what we agreed on. That’s the best solution. And I stand by it.”
Sané explained, however, that there was no noise in the dressing room after the 3-2 defeat in Heidenheim, “but of course it was clearly discussed what went well and what didn’t.” The national player freely admitted: “Of course there is a lot of frustration that we can’t show our quality all the time.” They want to “make amends” against Arsenal.
