It has already been reported that Krumiņa became the champion in the F-55 group in javelin throwing at the Paris Paralympic Games on Tuesday, repeating what was possible in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

In the combined group of F-55/F-56 athletes, the world and Paralympic record holder in the F-55 group, Krūmiņa threw the javelin at a distance of 24.99 meters in the first attempt, achieving a new Paralympic record.

“I feel relieved. If only you knew how my heart was racing during the race. It seems more crazy than during training. I had a lot of responsibility and I went out very nervous, but I did everything in my power. I am very grateful that everything it happened as it should,” said Krumiņa.

Brazilian Raisa Roche-Mashad won the silver medal with a throw of 23.51 meters, while Chinese Lin Sitona won the bronze medal with a throw of 22.35 meters. In total, 12 athletes competed in this combined group.

Krūmiņa, who was one of the Latvian flag bearers at the opening ceremony, already competed in the discus throwing competition in Paris, taking fourth place.

At the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, she won the javelin throw, and five years later in Tokyo – a bronze medal.

The Paris Paralympic Games will take place until September 8, with Latvians competing in athletics, paralympic dressage, cycling, swimming and shooting.

22 sports are represented at the Paralympic Games, in which about 4,400 athletes compete.
