“They told me ‘he has lymphoma, he has 2 months to live. But lymphomas heal in 90% of cases'”. Giancarlo Magalli, Mara Venier’s guest today on Domenica In, looks back on the last 18 months, characterized by health problems. “I had a matryoshka of diseases… The lymphoma was discovered because I had an infection, which led to hospitalization. During the tests for the infection they discovered the lymphoma. The last year and a half has passed between treatments , hospitalizations, chemotherapy”, says the presenter and author.

“I left the transmissions. After a year and a half, when I recovered I didn’t find a transmission again. Let’s start over again”, he adds. Magalli, in his long career, has worked with all the names that have made the history of Italian TV. “I worked with many, I tried to line up the names and they were two pages”, she says “Who did I argue with? Apart from one, with no one”, she glosses.

One person deserves special mention: “Gianni Boncompagni was a fundamental person in my life and in my work. We have been friends all my life. When I met him, he had just arrived from Sweden and was officially a photographer. He had a studio with Mario Marenco, they did everything except the photos… Gianni was a person out of the ordinary, in terms of inventiveness and irony. We made many programs, almost all of them lucky”, he says.

The debut in front of the cameras is linked to Boncompagni: “I was the author of Pronto, Raffaella? and I remained the author of Pronto, chi Gioca? with Enrica Bonaccorti hosted. Enrica became pregnant and left the show, she was also hospitalized. Gianni he called me, I was in the kitchen and he said ‘tomorrow you’re on air…'”.
