A female doctor of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata was raped and murdered on the night of August 8. The people of Kolkata are outraged by this shameful incident.

In the meantime, there is an uproar in the Malayalam film industry based on the report of the Hema Committee. In this situation, the actresses of Indian Bengali movies are also opening up about the bitter experience that happened to them. Actress Rukmini Maitra was questioned about this. Has such a bitter incident happened with him?

I have not encountered any demons: Rukmini

In an interview given to Hindustan Times, Rukmini Maitra said, ‘Actually, everyone’s experience is different, very personal. I have been working since I was very young. Just from the age of 13. To be honest I have never faced anything worse. Not when I used to go to work with my mother and grandmother when I was a child, and not when I started going alone after 18 years. Worked in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and even abroad. I also got acting offers from a very young age. But I have not had any such experience. That is, my experience is good in this regard.’

Thanking God, Rukmini Maitra said, ‘But there are many women, their experiences are different. Many have had very bad experiences. Maybe I have a good experience with the same person, another has a bad experience. So it understands who it is with. Thank God, I didn’t encounter any such demons. But I can’t say that it doesn’t happen. But the people it happened to, it’s really bad.’

Sexual harassment happens not only in the film industry but also in other fields. Claiming that, Rukmini Maitra said, ‘Actually, after the incident of RG tax, many things are changing now based on that one source, many things are emerging. But this issue of sexual harassment is not only in the film industry but everywhere. The discussion may be about the film industry, but it exists in other sectors too, perhaps more horribly. Rather, we actors and actresses can write and talk about it on Facebook if something happens. And other people live here in fear that they will be in the news if they do something. But if someone from other sector writes, opens his mouth, his job will be lost. So I would say, if there is a protest on this issue, it should be in all areas, in all sectors.’

In 2017, Rukmini Maitra stepped on the big screen with the movie ‘Champ’. Abhishek teamed up with popular actor Dev in the film and appeared on screen. Then they paired up in the movies ‘Cockpit’, ‘Kabir’, ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Password’. The duo’s on-screen chemistry has spilled over into their personal lives as well. Rukmini’s next movie is ‘Tekka’. Besides producing, Dev also acted in this movie.
