I have not read it, nor will I read it, says Bolsonaro about Zambelli interview

SÃO PAULO, SP (FOLHAPRESS) – Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said this Thursday (23) that he had not spoken to anyone about the interview given to Folha de S.Paulo by federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP ), in which she criticized the ally.

“I have not discussed the subject of this news with anyone. I have not read this interview, nor will I read it,” Bolsonaro told CNN Brasil.

The federal deputy, Bolsonarist and supporter of the arms agenda, gave an interview to the newspaper criticizing her ally’s stance after the defeat in last year’s presidential elections, and raised the white flag to Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

She stated that Bolsonaro should have vehemently repudiated anti-democratic acts across the country before leaving the presidency, and said that the opposition’s effort should be on President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).

“In the live that Bolsonaro did on December 30, he had to make it clear what he thought. He would be a remedy [contra o golpismo] if he had said it was for people to leave the barracks.”

“I have been saying that, as a deputy, my fight cannot be the same as the last legislature. I had the role of defending Bolsonaro and the government, anyone who attacked them had to become my target. In this legislature, Bolsonaro is no longer president , so our target has to be Lula, his accomplishments and misfortunes”, said Zambelli.

“We are on another level, now is not the time to hit the STF”, completed the deputy.

Even so, the interview generated repercussions among Bolsonaro’s circle. According to a report by the Monica Bergamo column, the former president told closest interlocutors that he was betrayed by Zambelli, believing in a possible agreement made by her with Moraes to return to social networks and avoid the possibility of arrest.

The thesis would have been reinforced with the interview and with the decision of the minister of the Brazilian Supreme Court allowing the reactivation of the social networks of the parliamentarian, previously suspended.

Deputies closer to Bolsonaro, on the other hand, disapproved of Carla Zambelli’s opinions, understanding the interview as a form of self-promotion and confirmation of an alleged infidelity to the former president.

In the Bolsonarist circle, the federal deputy has been called the “new Joice”, in reference to Joice Hasselmann, a faithful ally of the former president who became an opponent.

For these deputies, the parliamentarian is adhering to political pragmatism for fear of being arrested and, currently, it is consensus that the attacks have to be concentrated on Lula instead of the STF.

The relationship between the former representative and the federal deputy has been strained since the episode starring Zambelli on the eve of the second round, when she pointed a gun and chased a black man in Jardins, an upscale neighborhood in the city of São Paulo.
