The well-known actress Panagiota Vlantis spoke about her relationship with the mirror, about beauty and how it often causes guilt, as well as about the role of Silvi.
On the show “Main characters” of Stavros Theodorakis, on Thursday (18/04) Panagiota Vlandi was invited to Alpha, in the context of the theme “five featured women break taboos and talk about beauty when the years of innocence are over”.
The well-known actress initially referred to the “revolution” she made at home and her decision to go to beauty pageants, something that many people were unaware of. “And beauty pageant, and revolution! I made a revolution at home. They didn’t want me to be an actor and I wanted to annoy my dad a bit. I didn’t succeed, because he was bragging after all. That’s why I went to pageants, if for no other reason. I was 20 years old and I had Hypatia as a role model. Hypatia impressed me because in the 4th century she was a strong woman, a teacher and she had a step and could be heard. They stoned her. I think she “paid” for the combination of her knowledge and her beauty. He provoked”.
“I didn’t have a good relationship with the mirror, I wasn’t the beauty of the school. My sister was the star. I was very quiet, I was low-key, and in dress. I wasn’t bragging” said Panagiota Vlanti about her childhood.
The role of Silvi, however, in the beloved series “Black Midnight”, was absolutely sexy, something that she did not expect to have such a great success. “Silvi’s role was sexy, but I didn’t expect it to take so long, it scared me. Even now they love the role of Silvi. I’ve done a lot of work after that, and good ones, but they’re stuck there. Beauty in any job is acceptable, but at the same time it often backfires. You always have something to prove, to fight, to convince others that you are not only beautiful. There used to be a rumor that beautiful is not a good actress”
As confessed: “I felt guilty about my beauty. When I first entered school they used to tell me “come on baby, you have to show your face”. That bothered me too. I chased to play roles as mothers, grandmothers, to hide my body with loose clothes. They had made me feel bad. After “Black Midnight” I was freed, when I was close to 40. I couldn’t earlier”.
“We have to prove that we are good, that we work, but we also like to be beautiful. Beauty is a passport to business. For me, beauty is a combination. Beauty alone is not attractive, it must have a background” noted Panagiota Vlantis.
