The culture minister at the Venice Film Festival: “The fund worked to bring people back to the cinema”
«Italian cinema is the projection of our imagination and historically it has always had great vitality. After years of tarnishing, Italian cinema is now experiencing a new happy moment thanks to great directors». This was stated by the Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano, speaking to journalists during a visit to the Film Festival on the occasion of the inauguration of the renovated Sala Perla of the Palazzo del Casino on the Venice Lido. «Cinema is one of the most important forms of cultural expression, I could even say the most modern. We wanted to give a little help with the decree which allocated 10 million euros to give a discount to those who wanted to go back to cinemas; the mechanism worked, maybe next year we could renew it». «With the approval of the continuity allowance by the Council of Ministers, we have given a very important response to the world of entertainment: a provision that had been awaited for many years but which had never materialized. «It is a tool that makes it possible to give help, perhaps not definitive but important and significant, to those who work on a fixed-term basis only for certain periods of the year and who then – observes the owner of the Mic – are those figures professional, even technical, which make possible the functioning of the world of entertainment, in its multiform articulations» (by Nino Luca, sent to Venice)
