Popcorn or dry diet?

Leading her career at a frantic pace and with very sure taste, Anaïs Demoustier is president this year of the jury of the Caméra d’or which rewards the best first film, all selections combined. She will also present Le Temps d’aimer by Katell Quillévéré where she plays with Vincent Lacoste.

What’s your survival kit for the Cannes Film Festival?

Bandages for the blisters‚ water… as often as possible.

Your favorite palme d’or?

The Son’s Room by Nanni Moretti, my idol.

The film (or sequence) that marked your childhood?

Hell of Chabrol. Seen too soon perhaps. François Cluzet, haunted by jealousy, goes crazy alongside Emmanuelle Béart. I remember being disturbed by the violence that emanated from the relationship between the characters and especially by the staggering beauty of Béart which made Cluzet’s panic almost understandable.

A film that your parents prevented you from seeing?

Michael Haneke’s films just before I started filming with him at 14. As a good student, I wanted to watch them. I was not allowed. I saw them later and I understood that it was better to wait to appreciate.

A fetish scene or a scene that haunts you?

The fire in the wild walk de Terrence Malick.

Popcorn or dry diet?

Dry diet. I love the cinema for its collective listening, specific to each film. Not for the chewing sound of neighbors.

To be silent or to discuss during the projo?

To shut up ! I’m a little tyrannical perhaps… but it exasperates me the side “we are watching TV at home”. It’s so good to refrain from speaking even if you watch a movie next to a loved one. After the screening too, by the way, I prefer not to speak immediately…

A movie that makes you want to tear up the screen

Titanic. To save Rose and kiss Jack.

A film where it would be good to live?

Jeanne Dielman by Chantal Akerman‚ no I’m kidding! It’s a pirouette to talk about it because it was released in theaters recently. And it was a unique cinema experience! An unforgettable Sunday evening. A room captivated by this film, so restrained, so precise, so hypnotizing… I don’t want to go live with her, but I really have the impression of having met this woman, of having penetrated into her intimacy, thanks to Delphine Seyrig and to Chantal Akerman.

Which movie monster or psychopath do you feel closest to?

Norman Bates in Psychosis. For crossdressing…
