‘I make sure that there is not a single scene in my film that the family cannot see’: Abrid Shine

Mahaveeryar, directed by Abrid Shine, continues to be successful in theatres. The film is in a fantasy mood and deals with many issues of social relevance. Asif Ali, Nivin Pauly, Lal, Siddique and Mallika Sukumaran played the lead roles in the film.

A lot of scenes in Mahaviryar take place inside the court. All these court scenes have been discussed in a big way. There is a scene in the film where the character played by Shanvi Srivastava gets naked in the court. Abrid Shine is now talking about that scene. He was speaking in an interview to Asianet News.

Mahaveeryar is also a women’s film with contemporary relevance, but the question was whether the erotic scenes in it will not shock the family audience. Abrid Shine replied that there should not be a single scene in my film that the family cannot see.

‘From Draupadi, who was publicly disrobed in Mahabharata’s Rajasads, to victims who are verbally disrobed in POCSO cases today, the inner conflicts are similar.

Most societies are moved by the tears of a woman who has been tortured by words and deeds. So when a storyline came, I tried to figure out how to express it cinematically. Naturally it will become feminine.

But nudity was never used as a means in the film. Those who have seen the movie know how respectfully those scenes have been filmed, considering that such filming is in the middle of a huge star cast consisting of lawyers, accused and spectators. I make sure that there is not a single scene in my film that the family cannot see,’ said Abrid Shine.

Mahaviryar is produced under the banner of Nivin Pauly’s production company Poly Junior Pictures and Indian Movie Makers.
