Father Diego Jaramillo, from the Minuto de Dios program, sent a message of support to the Colombian team before the final of the continental competition that will be played against Argentina. In a video published by Minuto de Dios Radio on TikTok, Jaramillo commented: “I saw a meme of Pope Francis as an Argentine and on the other side myself as a Colombian saying: Who is going to win?” Therefore, he stated, “of course I obey the Pope in everything, but not in football.”
The theologian also said that, in a hypothetical conversation about the match with Pope Francis, the supreme pontiff would tell him that the Argentines would be happy if they were defeated by the Colombians. Jaramillo’s message ended with his iconic phrase: “My God, in your hands we place this match that has already passed and the grand final that is coming,” with the characteristic music of the Minute of God in the background.
Father Jaramillo’s charismatic message is framed in a context of great expectations and patriotic fervour, in view of the final of the 2024 Copa América, which pits the tricolor team against the Albiceleste.

The 92-year-old religious man has been directing this space since 1992, after taking over from Father García.
