A life dedicated to the largest militia in Rio de Janeiro did not leave the man who uses the nickname Mister M with feelings such as remorse or guilt.

Sentenced to about ten years in prison for being part of the Justice League, he narrates naturally how the group grew and consolidated through violence and corruption. His only regret, according to what he tells Sheet, is not “having become richer.” Under the name tribute to the DC superhero team, the criminal group was formed in the early 2000s in Campo Grande, one of the most populated neighborhoods in the western area of Rio de Janeiro, and soon established itself as the largest organization paramilitary of the city.

The ex-paramilitary says he has never killed. When asked if he feels regret, he states that he “would have liked to have gotten more involved and become richer.”

Today, free, he assures that he is no longer part of the group. However, he does not lose the militia habit of instilling fear. Afraid of being identified and killed, he grabs the journalist’s hand. He then pretends to light a lighter on the tip of a pen and then places it under one of the reporter’s fingernails. “Someone could catch you, put this pen with the hot tip under your nail. You will say my name. At the slightest torture,” he says. “If they catch you, go, because it’s bad in the trunk,” he adds. When asked if he has already gone through that experience, he says yes, but that it was a “misunderstanding by the firm,” as he calls the organization.
