The opening of the ticket office started this Wednesday, February 15 for the first draws. An (already) delicate starting phase.
February 13 marked the beginning of a dream. It is 1:25 p.m. when I receive an email from Paris 2024 telling me that I have been drawn by lot to create “my tailor-made pack”. I now have a slot, precisely from February 15 at 11 a.m. until February 17 at 11 a.m., to choose my places in my favorite sports. If, for several weeks, it has been announced that certain sessions will not be available – this mainly concerns the finals – the choice remains very wide.
The indications are clear: it is possible to connect and order several times during the 48-hour slot, but be careful not to leave the basket on hold for too long at the risk of losing the selected sessions. No problem. I rigorously chose the sports and sessions that interested me the most. In total, I had six sessions, or two packs, much to the chagrin of my wallet.

It’s 11 a.m. sharp on Wednesday when I log on. I’m in the queue and the first doubts settle. But nothing to worry about. I see that things are going fast, and at 11:05 a.m. I can start choosing my places. The site is fluid unlike many booking links for major events such as concerts or others.
A difficult reservation
I prepare my first pack: in my first session, I choose three places in athletics, quickly validated. Around the second session where I want two judo places. And there, first problem. If you start the first session with a specific number of places (in my example three for athletics), you must end the pack with the same number of places. It may be a mistake on my part because on an explanatory video, the example shows that six places are chosen during the first session and the same is true during the other two. However, nothing mentions an obligation.
It does not matter, I decide to choose two places for athletics and finish my pack in this way. So I select judo once again, without worry. For the third session, I want to choose gymnastics. And there, second problem. Only rhythmic gymnastics is offered while I want artistic gymnastics. Total misunderstanding. Especially since, during my previous session, I saw that artistic gymnastics was available. Why is it not during this third session? I decide to start all over again and there, indeed, artistic gymnastics is available during the first session. On the other hand, it is my favorite niche of athletics that has disappeared. There are only morning sessions left when I had selected a night session. Finally, I finish my first pack, with some sacrifices, not without difficulty. At the time of payment, I realize that I have to pay “Processing fee” in the amount of 1.5% of the total ticket price.

Place for the second pack. I start with artistic gymnastics, which I already wanted before, and there is no problem. But here I come to my third problem. Since I no longer have access to all the sessions that I originally planned, how do I complete my pack? Do I choose one or two sessions by default? I have chosen two places for gymnastics, but will I find someone to accompany me to volleyball? Certainly. Still need to ask those around me. But if it is possible to connect unlimited during the 48 hour slot, we are on the other hand timed when we are on the website (25 minutes for the creation of a pack). This time frame does not necessarily allow for a response from a friend or other. Disconnection, room for reflection. I already have my first pack, I have a little less than 44 hours left to create the second. Hoping that there are still places for artistic gymnastics when I reconnect…
